Welcome to Mastering the Elements of Art
Art Foundation I
Art Foundation I is designed specifically for school-age children in 1st and 2nd grade (ages 6-8).
This LIVE ONLINE (zoom) course introduces your child to the elements of art (line, color, shape, form, value, space and texture) through a series of fun and interactive lessons that teach the beginning skills of art technique and expression.

Your child will learn:

how to draw using line and shape and "breaking what we see into shapes."

recognition and use of patterns
-
basic composition (size and distance)
-
basics of how to use color, value, tint and shade.
-
introduction to using ink (sharpie) and color pencil.
​
Multiple lessons are integrated with literature and sensory processing for cognitive growth.
By the end of this course, your child will have a portfolio of their own artwork to showcase their progress and newfound artist skills.

This course can be taken twice
before lessons repeat.​

Learning Target Overview

Line: recognize different types of line and how to use them to create shapes, different sizes, patterns and cartoons.

Shape: recognize different kinds of shapes and how to combine them to create new shapes, depth.

Form: exposure to shading

Value: exposure to value (shading)

Color: identify the primary colors and the colors they create. Exposure to tint. Learn/practice coloring techniques.

Mediums: Crayons, markers, color pencil, and ink (Sharpie)
