My ART FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM offers a comprehensive and engaging approach to teaching children the fundamentals of art. Covering everything from drawing and watercolor to color theory and composition, this program aligns with National and Utah state standards, ensuring that young artists learn in a fun and accessible way while mastering essential artistic techniques.
MORE THAN JUST AN ART CLASS
Unlike traditional art programs, my classes seamlessly integrate elements of earth science and literature into the lesson structure. This approach enables students to make deeper connections with both subjects while honing their artistic skills.
PROFESSIONAL ART TEACHER
As a professional art teacher with over 14 years of classroom experience, I am passionate about the benefits of art for children's emotional and cognitive development. Each lesson is taught using real-time interaction, incorporating techniques that foster emotional resilience and enhance problem-solving skills through creative thinking.

Each Course can be taken twice before lessons are repeated.
Art Foundations I
Recommended for Ages 6-8
Grades 1st-2nd
In this class your child will learn:

the basics of drawing using line and shape (animals, plants and people)

the basics of depth using size and color to create depth.

The basics of color use (blending, depth, and shading)

crayon & marker coloring techniques

Introduction to art mediums:

Grades 3rd-4th
In this class your child will learn:

complex drawings (animals, plants people and basic landscapes)

how to recognize and use patterns

the illusion of shadow

positive & negative space

creating 3D illusion

color wheel (primary, secondary and complimentary)

Composition: point of interest

illustration

Recommended for Ages 10-13
Grades 5th-8th
In this class your child will learn:

perspective: 1 point & 2 point

Value: Pen & ink techniques

creating implied textures

caricatures (political cartooning)

warm & cool color schemes
-
visual balance (3 types)
-
stippling technique
-
intro to realistic drawing (animals, plants people and basic landscapes)
