Is My Child Ready?

If your child has completed Art Foundations III and still can't wait for the next project each week, they're ready for a new kind of artistic challenge.

Gnome 3.jpg

Intermediate may be a great fit if your child:

✔   Completed at least one year of Art 3 (or approved by teacher)

✔   They enjoy adding extra details.

✔   They ask deeper questions.

✔   They want artwork to "look more real."

✔   They're willing to spend longer on projects.

✔   They enjoy learning techniques

Not sure?  I'd love to help determine if your student is ready for the Intermediate Program.

A New Chapter in the Artistic Journey

From Foundations to Focused Study

Art Foundations 1-3  teach the essential skills every artist needs.

The Intermediate Art Program builds on those foundations through focused semester-long studies that introduce students to the techniques behind realistic artwork.

Instead of introducing many different concepts throughout the year, students spend an entire semester exploring one artistic discipline at a time. This focused approach allows them to practice, experiment, and gain confidence while discovering how realistic artwork is created

Your Three-Year Journey

Six Pathways into Realism

In Art Foundations, students explore many artistic concepts throughout the year.

In the Intermediate Program, they slow down and spend an entire semester studying one discipline.
This allows them to practice more, experiment more, ask deeper questions, and develop lasting confidence before moving on to the next area of study.

Why Learn One Medium at a Time?

Instead of rushing through many different techniques, students spend an entire semester exploring one artistic discipline. This gives them time to practice, experiment, ask questions, and truly understand each medium before moving on to the next.

By slowing down and focusing deeply, students build confidence that lasts far beyond a single project.

Building the Skills Behind Realistic Art

Careful Observation

  • Learn to notice the subtle shapes, proportions, and details that make realistic artwork believable.

Light & Form

  • Understand how light, shadow, and value create the illusion of three-dimensional form.

Color Relationships

  • Explore how artists use color temperature, layering, and blending to create depth and realism.

Technical Confidence

  • Develop stronger control over a variety of artistic tools and mediums through focused practice.

Creative Independence

  • Gain confidence making artistic decisions while applying techniques in personal and creative ways.

A Foundation for Future Growth

  • Finish the program with a stronger understanding of realism and the confidence to continue exploring new artistic styles and techniques.

Each lesson introduces and reinforces these skills through engaging projects designed specifically for younger artists.
